Irving Oil’s CEO and president, who has served in the top position for less than two years, is stepping down this fall. The company said Matthews will retire from the company on Nov. 1, capping off a 32-year career. He became CEO and president in January 2025. “Jeff Matthews has dedicated more than three decades to helping build and strengthen our company,” said Maureen Kempston-Darkes, lead director of Irving Oil’s Board of Directors, in a news release. “His leadership, integrity and commitment to our employees, customers and communities have positioned the company for continued success. “On behalf of the Board, I thank him for his service and wish him every success in retirement.” The board said they have chosen a new president and CEO who will be revealed at a later date. Matthews previously served as chair of Irving Oil’s Executive Management Committee and chief financial officer. “I have had the opportunity to work alongside exceptional people, and I am proud of all that we have accomplished together,” Matthews said.
