If you’re looking for a good flick this weekend, Mr. Hollywood, Matt Demers, was on CTV Morning Live on Friday with his top movie picks. Eden (Rated R) “You’ve got these European settlers in the 1930s, they’re on this remote, uninhabited island and they’re trying to start their own little society, they’re trying to coexist. And you know what’s great about this? It’s based on a true story,” Mr. Hollywood says. The movie stars Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, and Sydney Sweeney. It is directed by Ron Howard. Relay (Rated R) “I really like this. You know why? It’s a bit of an old-school throwback. We have a fixer, and it’s steeped in intrigue. You’ve got this guy who’s brokering payoffs between corrupt corporations and these potential clients. They keep you guessing to the end. If you want to be on the edge of your seat, that’s the one. Relay,” Mr. Hollywood says. The movie stars Riz Ahmed, Lily James, and Sam Worthington. It is directed by David Mackenzie. Honey, Don’t! (Rated R) “It’s fun because it’s mixing comedy with crime, thrills, and it’s a caper. It’s almost like a pulp B-movie. It’s from one half of the Cohen brothers and they go there. I do need to warn viewers, it is very violent, if that’s not your thing, but in a cinematic way,” Mr. Hollywood says. The movie stars Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and Charlie Day. It is directed by Ethan Cohen. Streaming This week, it’s all about getting into the back-to-school shopping vibe.
