A pedestrian pathway connecting Pimisi and Bayview O-Train stations currently has no lights after a recent act of vandalism, according to the city. Pictures on social media show all the light posts dark this week along the pathway between the two stations in the area of LeBreton Flats. Ottawa’s manager of traffic operations tells CTV News Ottawa the city is aware of the damage to the pathway lighting, “which appears to be the result of a recent act of vandalism.” “Our streetlighting contractor is currently investigating the extent of the damage and assessing what repairs are required,” Stu Eddison said. “Work is underway to develop a plan to reinstate the lighting as quickly as possible. As part of that work, the city will work with its contractor to explore whether additional measures may be appropriate to help reduce the likelihood of similar incidents in the future.” Photos posted on X by account ‘slzzpslzzp’ showed wires pulled out of the poles. “The safety of residents and ensuring well-lit, safe streets and pathways remain a priority,” Eddison said.
