These Ottawa pro hockey players are headed to the 2026 Winter Olympics

Several players from the Ottawa Senators and the Ottawa Charge are headed to Italy for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

While there are no Ottawa Senators on the Team Canada men’s roster, Team USA announced its lineup Friday, which includes Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and defenceman Jake Sanderson.

Defenceman Nikolas Matinpalo was named to Team Finland on Friday.

Tkachuk has had six goals and 19 assists in 19 games played so far this season. He missed several weeks following a thumb injury that required surgery during the home opener.

Sanderson has eight goals and 20 assists in 39 games this season.

Matinpalo has played 28 games with the Sens this season. He has four assists.

On the women’s side, Team USA has named defender Rory Guilday and goalie Gwyneth Philips to its roster.

Guilday has one goal and five assists in nine games this season. Philips has played eight games so far this season, with four wins, four losses, and a 0.93 save percentage.

The Canadian women’s team roster has yet to be announced.

Team Finland’s women’s team will include Ottawa Charge Defender Ronja Savolainen and goalie Sanni Ahola.

Savolainen has one goal and one assist in nine games with the Charge this season and is making her third Olympic appearance. Ahola has been in goal once for the Charge this season, in a 4-1 loss to the Seattle Torrent on Dec. 17, 2025. This will be her first Olympic appearance.

The 2026 Winter Games take place from Feb. 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
