Police investigating series of Waterloo Region retail thefts

A slew of retails thefts throughout the summer months in Kitchener and Waterloo have led to a Waterloo Regional Police investigation.

Investigators said the incidents began in July and have continued into October.

“WRPS’ Crime Suppression, Analysis, and Response (CSAR) Unit is committed to reducing crime and enhancing public safety through problem-oriented enforcement, targeted crime suppression, and prioritization of prevention and proactive measures for complex mental health and youth-related challenges,” police said in a media release.
