Suspect arrested following mischief call in Kemptville that prompted large police search

Ontario Provincial Police say one person has been arrested following an early morning police operation in Kemptville.

Police told residents a large number of officers would be seen around the Kemptville Campus early Thursday, but that there was no risk to public safety. Residents were asked to report any suspicious activity to police.

It came following a report of mischief in progress at the Kemptville Campus around 4:30 a.m., the OPP said.

Later, police said the search had expanded from the campus into the town of Kemptville.

“Thanks to public assistance, the suspect was located by officers on County Road 19 and safely taken into custody,” police said in an update. “The investigation is still ongoing and more information will be released when available.”

Charges have not been announced.
