Search for robbery suspect turns up vehicle, but no arrests at Mallorytown ONRoute

Ontario Provincial Police say a search at the Mallorytown ONRoute on the 401 eastbound on Wednesday came as a result of a tip from Kingston police.

Officers from Kingston informed the OPP about a robbery, with a description of a suspect vehicle.

The vehicle was found unattended at the ONRoute around 2 p.m. Wednesday, prompting a large police presence and investigation. Police had asked drivers to avoid the service centre at the time, but insisted there was no public safety threat.

In an update, the OPP said officers with the canine unit, forensic identification services, and from the Kingston Police Service searched the area but did not find a suspect. No arrests were made.

The OPP are asking residents with any information to contact Kingston police.
