A St. Patrick’s Day spin bike party kicked off Saturday for a good cause. The Rise & Run group, along with Wheelhouse cycle studio in Ottawa, was out encouraging fitness enthusiasts, runners and riders for a day of wellness and movement with a classic spin class. “It’s always nice to bring the Ottawa fitness community together,” says participant Emma Runzer-Boucher. “Anything that makes people be more active is just so positive and brings so much brightness to the community in times that are hard.” While bringing high knees and high energy, the event was organized to raise money for Back on My Feet, a nonprofit organization supporting those experiencing homelessness and addiction. “We thought it was a great cause that they support in getting people back on their feet, through running and through that sense of community. They combat homelessness through wellness,” says Rise & Run co-founder Camille Arseneault. There was an anticipated five-kilometre run before the spin but it was cancelled due to the snowy weather.
