Researchers are conducting an investigation after a possible tornado touched down in the Kemptville area on Sunday. Western University’s Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) says there were reports of damage following storms in three different locations in Ontario and Quebec. NTP survey teams are on their way to survey areas in Thorold in the Niagara Region, Kemptville, and Repentigny in the Montreal area for possible tornadoes. Environment Canada issued a yellow-level rainfall warning for the Ottawa area on Sunday. No tornado warnings were issued. The Kemptville area received just under 18 mm of rain. Two tornadoes have been confirmed in eastern Ontario so far this year. The pair of weak EF1 and EF0 tornadoes touched down in the Kingston, Ont. area during a severe thunderstorm on Canada Day, causing damage to trees and properties but there were no injuries.
