A man was seriously injured after being assaulted in the ByWard Market only a day after a similar incident at the same intersection. The Ottawa Police Service says officers responded to Cumberland Street and George Street at approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday. Ottawa paramedics commander Kevin Montgomery says emergency crews treated a 35-year-old man with a head injury. He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition, he said. Police say an investigation is ongoing. There was no word of any arrests. Several officers and police tape was set up on the sidewalk and a bike lane at the intersection. A small splatter of blood was seen on the sidewalk. On Saturday, first responders were called to an area near the Salvation Army Booth Centre just across the street from the scene after a man was found seriously injured with a laceration to his face, according to paramedics. No arrests have been made in that incident.
