A driver is facing a charge of stunt driving after being caught speeding 102 km/h on the Bank Street Bridge in Ottawa’s south end. The Ottawa Police Service’s Road Safety and District Traffic Units said a driver was observed going 102 km/h on the Bank Street Bridge near Kitchener Avenue Tuesday night. The speed limit on Bank Street in the area is 50 km/h. “Travelling at 52 km/h over the posted limit (also no front plate) is a great way to attract attention from one of OPS East District Enforcement specialists,” police said on X. The charge of stunt driving includes a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days. Statistics released this week from the Ottawa Police Service show a 12 per cent increase in stunt driving charges on Ottawa roads this year. Police have issued 389 stunt driving charges to Ottawa drivers so far this year, up from 346 drivers during the same period last year.
