Ontario Provincial Police say a portion of Highway 17 in eastern Ontario is closed in both directions following a collision that brought down hydro lines. Police reported that the driver of a transport truck had crashed at around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Hydro One is reporting approximately 5,500 customers without power, with an estimated restoration time of 3 p.m. OPP say no one was reported hurt. Highway 17 is closed in both directions between Wylie Road in Deep River and Main Street in Chalk River. The closure is expected to last “a few hours,” according to police. The closure was initially between Wylie Road and Kings Road, but it was extended to Main Street in Chalk River at around 12:40 p.m.
