Animal rescuer receives CTV and Move 100 Community Hero Award

Jackie Gauthier, an Ottawa animal rescuer and advocate, has been honoured with the CTV and Move 100 Community Hero Award.

To recognize her work helping animals in need, Gauthier was presented with a $5,000 La-Z-Boy gift card courtesy of La-Z-Boy of Ottawa, Gatineau and Kingston.

“My main purpose is to save them, get them out of whatever situation,” Gauthier said.

Gauthier runs two non-profits, the animal rescue Jackie to the Rescue as well Speak Up For Paws, a charity advocating to help community cats.

Gauthier says her aim is to give a voice to the animals and “be the one that’s going to give them the best life ever, because they all deserve it.”
