Two charged with drug, weapons offences in northwestern Ont.

A drug trafficking investigation in the Town of Manitouwadge ended earlier this week with two people charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences.

Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant at a residence in the community on May 21.

“Investigators seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, a firearm, cash and a digital scale,” the OPP said in a news release May 22.

Two men from Manitouwadge, both age 29, have been charged with drug trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both accused were released with a court date of Sept. 9 at Manitouwadge Federal Court.
