Three youths have been arrested after allegedly setting fire to a bridge in New Glasgow, N.S., earlier this month. On May 6, New Glasgow Police and the New Glasgow Fire Department responded to a fire at the Pioneer Trail Foot Bridge around 1:30 a.m. Police said the fire caused extensive damage to the walking surface of the bridge. It was immediately closed to pedestrian traffic at the time and remains closed while “damage assessments continue.” Police said following a preliminary investigation, it was determined the fire had been deliberately set. Late Friday night, police announced three youths had been arrested and will face charges of arson damage to property. The youths were released on conditions pending future court appearances.
