Drivers are being reminded that the northbound lanes of the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge between Surrey and New Westminster are closed this weekend, and the new crossing will be fully closed next weekend. Both northbound lanes closed at 9 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday. During this time, anyone travelling into New Westminster is asked to use the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges. Southbound travel into Surrey remains open. Next weekend, the bridge will close fully in both directions starting at 9 p.m. May 29 and ending at 5 a.m. on June 1. During the closures the N19 night bus will detour over the Queensborough and Alex Fraser bridges. “All traffic pattern changes will be well-signed, and traffic control personnel will be on site to assist as required,” officials wrote in a notice. Both closures are required for the installation of a multi-use path overpass structure over the Bridge Connector and Royal Avenue onramp.
