Sudbury suspect charged with stunt driving on MR80

A 25-year-old suspect has been charged with stunt driving on Municipal Road 80 in Greater Sudbury following an incident Wednesday.

In a social media post, police said traffic unit officers first clocked the driver at 109 km/h in a 60 km/h zone near Main Street in Val Caron.

“Then the driver really committed – accelerating through McCrea Heights and hitting 160 km/h in the 80 zone,” police said.

The driver was pulled over and charged with dangerous driving – a criminal offence – along with two counts each of speeding and stunt driving.

“Their licence is suspended for 30 days, their car is impounded for 14, and they’ll be explaining themselves in court this November,” police said.

“Reminder: Municipal Road 80 is not the Autobahn. It’s a road. In Sudbury.”
