The Greater Sudbury Police Service is investigating a double homicide after responding to a report of gunshots at an apartment building on Paris Street on Friday night. Officers were called to 1960 Paris Street, a high-rise formerly known as Rumball Terrace, at 10:23 p.m., after a 911 call was received. Upon arrival, police located a deceased male and a deceased female on one of the building’s floors. The two 1960 Paris St. buildings, referred to as A and B, are Greater Sudbury Housing properties, adjacent to a townhouse complex also run by housing in the city’s south end. One arrest, more suspects sought Police announced one arrest has been made in connection with the incident, a 44-year-old person. The initial police investigation indicates that other suspects had already fled the scene before officers arrived. Police said that based on preliminary information, the shooting is believed to be a targeted incident involving individuals who were known to each other. Authorities are now working to locate the outstanding suspects. “Officers are actively working to identify and locate the suspect,” investigators said in a news release Saturday morning. No threat to public safety Despite the suspects remaining at large, Sudbury police said there is no broader danger to the public. “There is no threat to public safety,” the news release read. The investigation, filed under incident number SU25043477, is ongoing. Police are appealing to the public for assistance in the investigation. Police have not released the identity or any further details about the victims or the suspect in custody, nor have they said how many additional suspects remain at large. “Further updates will be provided as they become available,” police said.
