Snowplow found in a ditch in northern Ont., driver charged with impaired

A snowplow operator has been charged with impaired driving after provincial police found the plow in a ditch east of Cochrane, Ont.

A snowplow driver in Cochrane, Ont., has been charged with impaired driving after his plow was found stuck in a ditch last week.

Ontario Provincial Police received a report at 3 a.m. March 11 about the stuck snowplow, which was stuck on the west side of Highway 652, but was facing east.

It was located in Kenney Township, 10 kilometres east of Cochrane. Police found the suspect behind the wheel.

Taken for testing

“Officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol,” police said in a news release Monday.

“The individual was arrested and taken to the Timmins Police Service for further testing.”

The 50-year-old driver, who is from Cochrane, failed sobriety tests and was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 15 in Cochrane.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the snowplow was impounded for seven days.
