Sault man charged with assault, breaching of probation then released

A 38-year-old local man is facing charges after city police responded to a report of an assault on Bell Avenue in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., over the long weekend.

The incident occurred on Monday around 8:20 p.m.

Sault police said an investigation revealed the accused had struck an individual, who was not known to them, in the arm.

“No physical injuries were reported,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Wednesday.

Accused located, charged and released

Officers obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest and located him on Sept. 2.

He has been charged with one count of assault and one count of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 10.
