Residence collapses in the Sault following fire

Fire crews in Sault Ste. Marie dealt with a residential fire April 20 on Aubin Road that resulted in extensive damage.

Firefighters responded just before 10:30 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services said in a news release April 22.

“Upon arrival, there was significant smoke and flames visible from the residential dwelling. Fire crews were able to contain the fire,” the release said.

“Fire crews remained on scene, extinguishing areas of the structure for approximately 22 hours due to structural collapse of the dwelling. Due to significant structural damage, the cause of the fire is undetermined.”

While there was significant fire and smoke damage to the residence, there were no injuries.
