A 69-year-old intoxicated man from Elliot Lake was involved in an argument that escalated to the point that he threatened someone with a knife, Ontario Provincial Police said July 3. The incident took place July 2 around 4 p.m. on Taylor Boulevard, the OPP said in a news release. “OPP was called in relation to an older intoxicated male who had just threatened another male with a knife after a verbal argument,” the release said. “The older male departed the area on foot prior to police arrival but was arrested a short time later at his residence. There were no injuries sustained by anyone involved.” The Elliot Lake man was charged with assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Elliot Lake on Sept. 10.
