Man charged after grandparent requests ejection from home

A 33-year-old man from Thunder Bay is facing charges after a family disturbance last week in Blind River.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to a residence on Cobden Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, following a call from a grandparent requesting that their adult grandchild be removed from the home.

Police said when officers arrived on scene they recognized an individual walking away from the residence.

“The individual brandished several knives and police were able to safely make an arrest,” OPP said.

Police subsequently charged the man with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused appeared for a bail hearing in Blind River and was remanded into custody.
