Disgusting discovery Sudbury woman finds dumped bear carcass while walking on trail that backs onto a residential area. Claude Sharma reports.

A woman walking her dogs in Sudbury is appalled with what she recently saw on a trail.

It was the remains of a recently killed bear; laid out in full view for everyone to see.

Camelia Gould hopes to see it removed immediately

Gould loves her dogs and enjoys taking them on daily walks on a trail in Hanmer behind Morrie Court, near Farmdale Playground.

Gould was caught off guard and upset with what she saw this week in the bush right beside the dirt path.

A tarp, box and bear remains.

"I'm glad my daughter wasn't with me,” she said.

“She would have burst into tears if she would have seen that.”

Gould took the attached photos on Wednesday morning.

Most of the remains were still in the same spot as of Thursday afternoon

Gould believes they were dumped here in the middle of the night.

"I noticed that there was a pool of blood, and tire tracks leading to where the bear carcass was left,” she said.

Neighbours told CTV there is garbage dumped along the trail and into the bush, but they've never seen the remains of a disposed animal before.

Jim Lamb can see it from his backyard. He said the path is well used by school children and worries the carcass will attract predators that would  impose immediate danger.

"To have it out there beyond the fence and the trail there is disgusting,” Lamb said.

The city says it believes the area in question is not municipal land, but rather private property.

It says either way it will be addressed right away.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is also looking into this. The MNRF said it will send a conservation officer as soon as possible.
