Sault police and Crime Stoppers ask for help identifying a suspect in thefts from Home Depot on March 26 and 28.

Sault police and Crime Stoppers have released surveillance images and are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in a theft investigation at a local retailer.

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, issued a plea for help on Friday and detailed the incidents from last month.

The incidents occurred March 26 and 28 at the Home Depot on Great Northern Road.

“An unknown male was observed walking out of Home Depot with assorted power tools valued at over $3,000,” said Crime Stoppers in a news release.

“The suspect was seen leaving in a black truck.”

Portions of the incident were captured by video surveillance cameras, and Sault police and Crime Stoppers are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.

Authorities have distributed the surveillance images and a video along with an appeal for information.

Appealing to the community

“Do you recognize this individual?” asked Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Sault police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

“If you have information, contact Crime Stoppers,” the organization said in a related online video.
