Woman killed after being hit on head by tree branch in Montreal’s west end

A 76-year-old woman was struck by a tree branch on May 10, 2025 in the on-island suburb of Cote-Saint-Luc.

A 76-year-old woman was killed after a large branch fell on her in Côte Saint-Luc on Saturday.

Montreal police (SPVM) said that multiple 911 calls came in at 12:50 p.m. after the woman was hit at the corner of Queen Mary Road and Macdonald Avenue.

Police, paramedics and firefighters responded to the scene.

“When they arrived, there was already a citizen performing CPR on the victim,” SPVM spokesperson Veronique Dubuc said.

The woman sustained a serious head injury and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

A family member confirmed to CTV News on Sunday that the woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The family member said that the coroner will investigate the cause of death.
