Revellers who want to keep the party going after midnight can take the metro later than usual on New Year’s Eve. The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is once again extending its operating hours on Dec. 31 on certain lines to help people get around for the festivities. The green, orange and yellow lines will be running on a special event nighttime schedule from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1, 2026, with varying last-departure times. Service on those lines will be extended by approximately two hours, with some trains leaving as late as 3:20 a.m. Users are advised to check the STM schedule to see when the last train leaves their station. The blue line, however, will operate on a normal weekday schedule for New Year’s Eve. There are also 23 bus routes that run all night long, with intervals of four to 45 minutes between buses, as well as a bus every 15 minutes on René-Lévesque Boulevard. More information is on the STM website. The transit agency says the special late-night service on Dec. 31 will not be affected by the ongoing overtime strike by maintenance workers. Negotiations are still underway to end the strike, which started last Thursday and will last until Jan. 11, 2026, or until a deal is reached.
