One of Canada’s most wanted fugitives arrested in B.C., will be repatriated to Montreal

Montreal police said Pierry Philogène, 39, was arrested in Surrey, B.C. He is wanted for first-degree murder in the killing of Charles-Olivier Boucher Savard.

One of Canada’s most wanted fugitives is now behind bars.

Montreal police said Pierry Philogène, 39, was arrested in Surrey, B.C., Tuesday evening. He is wanted for first-degree murder in the Dec. 22, 2021, killing of Charles-Olivier Boucher Savard in Montreal.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police said they arrested him after acting on information from the public. They said there was a short foot chase before he was arrested with assistance from Vancouver police. A search also turned up “fraudulent ID.”

The transit police said he was charged with obstruction of a peace officer and possession of identity documents without lawful excuse.

Philogène will now be sent to Montreal to face the murder charge in court.

He was among the six Quebecers on the list of Canada’s top 25 most wanted criminals, according to the federal BOLO program.

Philogène was also one of the five men wanted as part of Project Alliance, a large-scale joint investigation between Montreal police and the Sûreté du Québec aimed at solving various murders linked to organized crime in Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec.

Eleven suspects were arrested in the operation on June 12, including the alleged head of the Montreal Mafia, Leonardo Rizzuto, 56, and one his close associates, Stefano Sollecito, 57.

The four suspects still being sought by police in Project Alliance are:

• Sacha Krolik, 57
• Mario Sollecito, 54
• Gianpietro Tiberio, 52
• Jean-Ismel Zéphir, 49
