Montreal truck driver wins $3M jackpot, but he’s not quitting his job

A Montreal truck driver has struck it rich – winning $3 million on a Loto-Quebec prize – but says he’s not quitting his job.

Gérald Côté took home a $3 million jackpot with the 30X scratch ticket, one of the scratch games he enjoys playing.

He told Loto-Quebec he started seeing numbers on the self-serve terminal: first it was three, then 30, 300, until he finally thought, “There are too many zeroes!”

The attendant at the Nuns’ Island Provigo store validated the ticket.

“The whole store was ecstatic!” said Loto-Quebec in a news release Tuesday.

Because he loves driving for work, Côté said he has no plans to give up his career.

With his windfall, the vintage car aficionado plans to buy a ‘60s Corvette as a restoration project.
