Man struck by metro train

One man was badly hurt after being hit by a metro train late Monday night.

The accident happened after 11 p.m. at the Snowdon station, where the the man was sitting on the platform with his legs hanging off the edge.

As a train pulled into the station the man did not move, so the braking train smashed into his legs and pinned him in place.

Witnesses alerted emergency crews, who rushed to the scene and carried the man out of the metro station and then took him to hospital.

He is expected to survive his injuries, but it's not known exactly how badly his legs were damaged.
