Driver going the wrong way causes accident at the the Pierre-Laporte Bridge exit

A driver travelling in the wrong direction caused an accident at the exit of the Pierre-Laporte Bridge, which leads to Lévis. Alcohol may have been a factor, according to the Sûreté du Québec.

The collision occurred late Friday night, around midnight, when the driver, a woman in her early 30s, entered the ramp from Highway 20 West to merge onto Highway 73 South while travelling eastbound.

“There was a major collision between her SUV and a small car,” said Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau.

The collision resulted in serious injuries to the driver of the small vehicle and minor injuries to the woman driving in the opposite direction, but their lives are not in danger, Bilodeau noted.

Police, who suspect the woman was driving under the influence, took a blood sample to test for alcohol.

“A crash investigator went to the scene to analyze the area, and as a result, the road was reopened around 4 a.m. on Saturday,” said Bilodeau.
