Quebec highway patrol (SQ) officers clocked a driver going over 200 km/h in the early hours of Monday morning in Laval. The SQ said that shortly before 1 a.m., a 21-year-old man was pulled over after being caught going 208 km/h in the 100 km/h zone of Highway 15 northbound near Cartier north of Montreal. He picked up a $1,993 ticket and 24 demerit points. His driver’s licence was also suspended for a week. Quebec police are reminding drivers to slow down, particularly during the deadliest stretch of the year for road fatalities during the construction holiday. “Speeding is one of the leading causes of fatal collisions on Quebec’s roads, especially during the holiday season,” the SQ said in a news release. “Drivers are urged to reduce their speed for the safety of everyone.”
