A person died Wednesday morning after a vehicle crashed and caught fire in Quebec’s Montérégie region. According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a vehicle veered off the road before catching fire on Sainte-Catherine street in the municipality of Saint-Gérard-Majella, about 100 kilometres northeast of Montreal. The driver became trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. “Given the fire, we are unable to determine whether the driver was a man or a woman,” the SQ told CTV News. An investigation surrounding the crash is underway.
