Southern Ontario basking in sunshine on Monday, scattered showers move in Tuesday

Julie Atchison has the latest forecast for the London area.

Temperatures are on the warm side across southern Ontario Monday afternoon, with lots of sunshine.

“It’s another beautiful day with the surface high now sliding off to the east, daytime highs in the mid 20s across most of the region with the exception if you’re near the lake shore, the temperature a bit cooler around 19 to 20 degrees this afternoon,” said CTV News London Meteorologists Julie Atchison.

“A bit of high cloud trying to move in advance of our next low-pressure system. This is a closed low that will eject moisture from the Gulf Coast states and you can see some rainfall already moving through the Carolinas and pushing towards the Ohio Valley,” Atchison added.

This system will be edging its way northward over the next 24 hours and will introduce about a 40 per cent chance of showers on Tuesday, 17 degrees at lunch.

“So not quite as warm without the sunshine, mainly cloudy conditions and winds generally out of the east Wednesday, mainly cloudy with the 40 per cent chance of showers,” she said.

Monday Night: Clear. Increasing cloudiness near midnight then 40 percent chance of showers overnight. Low 15.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the morning. High 19.

Wednesday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of showers. High 24.

Thursday: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of showers. High 26.

Friday: Clearing. High 29.

Saturday: A mix of sun and cloud with 60 percent chance of showers. High 19.
