‘Lots of instability’ in the local forecast this week

Julie Atchison has the latest forecast for southern Ontario

Extreme warmth is moving into the region, with temperatures climbing into the low 20s this week.

“We even have a humidex this afternoon, making it feel like the upper 20s in the Forest City right now — feeling like 27 further north,” said CTV News meteorologist Julie Atchison.

In Bruce County, rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms have been moving through the region, a trend expected to continue through the week.

Pop‑up showers and thunderstorms are expected each day, while temperatures remain warm.

“We are expecting daytime highs to reach that 20‑degree mark over the next few days. Be ready for periodic scattered showers and thunderstorms — lots of instability in this forecast,” Atchison said. “We will have a front that will wave its way over the area and bring with it the chance of storms.”

Atchison said the main threats will be heavy downpours, with localized flooding possible in low‑lying areas.
