Several municipalities in Huron-Bruce granted provincial funding for water infrastructure

Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce, was in Huron County Wednesday to announce new funding for local municipalities.

The Ontario government is investing $39,448,926 in water infrastructure to help build approximately 4,974 new homes in five municipalities in Huron and Bruce counties.

This is being done through their Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF).

“This is tremendous news for communities across Huron-Bruce,” said Thompson. “By investing in critical water infrastructure, our government is leading the way for new housing opportunities and sustainable growth in our municipalities. This investment will help ensure that more housing can be realized, supporting families, attracting new residents, and strengthening the vibrant communities we call home.”

This funding will support the following municipalities:

• Municipality of Huron East, $12,819,000
• Town of Saugeen Shores, $17,976,250
• Municipality of South Huron, $5,367,325
• Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, $2,110,156
• Municipality of Central Huron, $1,176,195
