Human remains found in Haldimand County linked to Simcoe homicide: OPP

OPP say human remains believed to be linked to a homicide investigation in Simoce, have been found in a wooded area off Highway 6 in Haldimand County.

Around 6 p.m. on Thursday, police said investigators found the remains west of Caledonia, south of Sterling Street.

A postmortem to confirm the identity of the victim and cause of death is scheduled for Friday.

Anyone who may have been in the area of Highway 6 west of Caledonia and south of Sterling Street on Sunday Oct. 5 between 10:30 p.m. and 12 a.m. is asked to contact police.

Investigators are specifically asking drivers, especially transport truck drivers, who may have dashcam video from the area, to check their footage and contact police with any information that may help in the investigation.

On Oct. 12, police said a 45-year-old man was charged with second degree murder in relation to the death of Barbara Morgan, 71, who was found in a home on Head Street in Simcoe on Oct. 5.

On Oct. 10, police said there was concern for a potential second victim as part of the investigation and asked the public for information regarding the whereabouts of Robert Sykes, 49, who was last seen on head Street on Oct. 4.
