Highway lane closure on 401, 402 reopens

Following some winter weather, a portion of Highway 402 has reopened, but a portion of Highway 401 remains closed due to a crash.

OPP said Highway 402 westbound lanes were closed from the Highway 401 split to Nauvoo Road, but reopened just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 are closed near Putnam Road as a crash is cleaned up.

“Snowplow operators are doing their best as quickly as they can,” said Const. Ed Sanchuk in a video posted to social media.

“They need to clear the on ramps and off ramps to make sure that they’re safely passable for all the motoring public, so please bear with us, pack some patience.”
