A significant portion of Sunningdale Road will be closed and experiencing construction disruptions throughout the rest of the summer. The City of London will be reconstructing a stretch of the road between Hyde Park Road and Jordan Boulevard beginning on Monday, June 29. The project will upgrade the road to an urbanized intersection with pedestrian crosswalks, as well as adding cycling infrastructure. This is in addition to work that is already taking place to upgrade underground water and sewer pipes - timed to make the best use of other nearby construction projects that will already necessitate some of the road being redone. The project hopes to be a proactive approach as growth in the city’s north end is projected to continue in the coming years. According to a release from the City of London, tackling the project now will help save on costs in the future, and position the area for future growth. The closure will persist until Labour Day.
