Temperatures will be well above freezing on Friday as more rain is expected to fall on the region ahead of a weekend cool down and risk of flurries. With Wednesday night’s February thunderstorm taking many by surprise, there will be a 60 per cent chance of showers early Thursday evening, with a risk of another thunderstorm. Fog patches will develop this evening, with an overnight low of 3 C. Looking ahead to the end of the workweek, CTV News London’s Julie Atchison says as we near closer to sunrise, “we’ll see a steadier rain.” Friday’s daytime high will reach 5 C in London, with rain expected throughout the day before becoming overcast by the evening. Sustained winds of 40 km/h and gusts of 70 km/h near noon are expected. As temperatures drop into the nighttime hours however, Atchison says there will be a transition over to snowfall. “A cold front will cross the area late day. That will see the temperature start to drop off heading into Friday evening with flurries, so we are expecting to get into some slippery road conditions once again on a Friday night as the temperatures drop near the freezing mark,” Atchison explained. Overnight Friday the low will dip down to 0 C with a 60 per cent chance of flurries. Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures hold around the freezing mark with a chance of flurries. “Early next week, definitely in for a ride in terms of daytime highs in the extended forecast and a wintery mix on the way as we move through the next seven,” Atchison said.
