Rain has been non-stop Sunday afternoon across Simcoe County and isn’t expected to let up until this evening. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement Sunday afternoon saying 10 to 25 mm of additional rain is expected. The communities affected include Barrie, Collingwood, Muskoka, Midland, Caledon, Newmarket and Orillia. This comes after a yellow rainfall warning was put in place for the majority of the region on Saturday. While Saturday’s rain showed up more in a downpour with a thunder and lightning show, Sunday’s rain is more steady and ongoing. The national weather centre is reminding people of water pooling likely on roads and in low-lying areas. Take extra care on the roads as forecasters say visibility could be reduced suddenly at times. Things will clear and dry up for holiday Monday with a high of 24 C but with the humidity, it will feel like 28 C.
