The Greater Montreal area is under a severe thunderstorm watch for Sunday afternoon and evening, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). Severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts and torrential downpours are expected, the weather agency says. “Nautical activities may be hazardous due to sudden, severe wind gusts over bodies of water,” the weathery agency says. “Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible.” The weather agency warns that heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.
