Guelph Police have arrested a man wanted for assault. They said the victim flagged down an officer near Gordon Street and Fountain Street on Sunday evening, explaining he had been working in the area when a stranger approached and punched him in the face. “The victim tried to defend himself by holding up a clipboard, but the man punched and broke it causing the victim’s documents to fall onto the road,” a media release said. “The man then stole the clipboard and some documents and fled.” His alleged attacker was arrested in downtown Guelph on Monday afternoon. The 30-year-old man was charged with mischief, theft under $5,000 and two counts of breaching a probation order.
