SUV driver charged for Guelph dump truck collision

A driver who caused a crash at a Guelph intersection has now been charged.

It happened Tuesday, around 11 a.m., at Arkell Road and Victoria Road South.

Guelph Police said an SUV ran a red light and was struck by a dump truck.

Both vehicles ended up in a ditch due to the force of the collision and the flying debris damaged the windshield of a third vehicle.

“Remarkably, only very minor injuries were reported with neither of the occupants requiring medical assistance,” police said in a media release.

A 40-year-old man from Guelph was charged with careless driving and failing to stop at a red light.

The vehicles were removed from the ditch and the intersection reopened by 1:30 p.m.
