Guelph man charged for break-in and assault

Guelph Police have arrested a man who allegedly attacked a woman during a break-in on June 20.

Police said the victim caught a man trying to steal tools and other items from her home near Eastview and Auden Road.

“When she intervened, the man kicked her in the abdomen, causing her to fall down,” they explained in a media release. “He also took and smashed her phone when she tried to call police.”

The 33-year-old Guelph man was arrested during a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Police charged him with assault, theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.
