Guelph man charged after entering home, says he was looking for friend

A 43-year-old man is facing charges after police say he entered a home in the middle of the night, telling officers he was looking for a former friend.

Guelph Police said they were called just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to a residence near Speedvale Avenue East and Delhi Street after a homeowner reported someone had come into her bedroom while she was asleep.

Police said the woman yelled, prompting the man to flee the home.

Officers arrived shortly afterward and located a suspect in the area. According to police, the man told officers he had been looking for a friend he had not seen in years.

A 43-year-old Guelph man has been charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling and two counts of breaching a probation order.
