Debit and credit cards stolen from gym lockers in Guelph

The Guelph Police Service is warning gym-goers to be careful after bank cards were stolen from lockers this week.

On Monday evening, a man from Rockwood said cash and his debit and credit cards were stolen from a wallet he had left in a locked locker at a gym in the city’s south-end. Almost $5,200 worth of purchases and withdrawals were later made using those cards.

The next day, a woman in Guelph said cards and cash were missing from her wallet after she went to a morning class at the same gym. She also told police her belongings had been left in a locker and she hadn’t noticed any damage to the lock. Approximately $900 in purchases were made before the card was deactivated.

All cards were used at the same south-end business.
