The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth has surpassed their fundraising goal for a tattoo fundraiser. Over the weekend, the Humane Society teamed up with local tattoo artists for ‘Fur-Ever Ink’d.’ Supporters were encouraged to stop by the Hampton Inn & Suite by Hilton Waterloo St. Jacobs and pick out a pre-designed tattoo. The tattoo artists were donating their time and materials so all funds raised would go to animals in need. “We arrived about an hour before the event started and there was already a lineup at the door down the street of people wanting to get on the waitlist,” Marty Rorke, a tattoo artist with True Ink Tattoo Studio, told CTV News on Sunday. All told, 89 permanent tattoos and 23 henna designs were completed and just over $11,600 was raised for the cause. The Humane Society’s goal was $10,000.
