Snow events declared in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge

Several collisions are under investigation including a fatal crash in Cambridge. CTV’s Karis Mapp has the details.

Parking bans have been announced in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.

Kitchener said its snow event will begin Saturday at 2 a.m. and is extended until 2 a.m. Monday.

“This helps ensure that staff operating plows and snow clearing equipment are able to effectively and efficiently clear snow from roadways across the city,” the city said in a media release. “During a snow event, the city’s tag-and-tow process takes effect. Residents are prohibited from parking their cars on city streets at any time, and overnight parking exemptions are cancelled to allow for snow clearing. The ticket for parking on the street during a snow event is $100.”

In both Cambridge and Waterloo, the parking ban begins Friday at 6 p.m.

Street parking bans generally last 24 hours.

Waterloo also temporarily extended its snow event Saturday evening, but made an announcement Sunday morning that it was cancelled.

“The City of Waterloo is cancelling the current snow event and street parking ban as of 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 15 2026. The team has made significant progress clearing city roads,” the city said in a media release.

Drivers are asked not to park on city streets or their vehicle could be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
