Schools in Waterloo Region will be closed on Thursday

As a potentially significant winter storm moved through Waterloo Region on Wednesday, school boards in Waterloo Region pre-emptively made the decision to close schools on Thursday.

The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) said their decisions were based on the forecasted weather conditions.

All school buses, taxis and special education routes are cancelled.

All WRDSB and WCDSB schools will be closed.

Extended Day Program and Child Care Centres located within the schools and their Education Centre will also be closed.

St. Louis Adult learning and Continuing Education programs are also cancelled.

“The WRDSB will support the continuity of students’ learning through asynchronous learning resources from their virtual learning environment, where applicable, and/or WRDSB@Home for resources. Students may also work on previously-assigned work or spend time reviewing material previously covered,” a post from the school board read.
